Baghdad in my Shadow
A failed author, a wife in hiding, a clandestine gay IT-specialist meet in an Iraqi café in London. Incited by a radical Sheik, the author’s nephew attacks them and turns their lives upside down.
An ensemble film set in the Iraqi diaspora, Baghdad in My Shadow shows different ways of dealing with exile and crafting an identity. None seem ideal, but allow people to come to terms with their past. While relying on deft, suspenseful storytelling, the film confronts its characters with the ghosts of history.Victor Bournérias
