The Invisible Hand
This drama about a family’s conflict with a ghost was commissioned by the Guangdong Times Art Museum, Guangzhou. The film was premiered at the museum but shut down after two days following censorship.
Fast’s first foray into VR was banned in China as ghosts, a prominent feature in this story, allegedly no longer exist since the founding of the People’s Republic. The likelier reason is its depiction of the consequence of an accelerated economic ascendance that echoes China’s. The 360° environment might give off the impression of freedom, but the characters in this cautionary tale appear to be destined for a troubled future.Julian Ross
