Love Affair

USA  ·  1939  ·  35 mm  ·  Black and White  ·  88'  ·  o.v. English

A sublime alchemic fusion of comedy and melodrama. A French painter goes on a ship to the U.S., where a wealthy heiress awaits him, and meets a singer who is engaged. They fall in love and agree to meet six months later on top of the Empire State Building – “because it’s the nearest thing to heaven we have in New York”.

Preserved by The Museum of Modern Art with support from The Film Foundation.
