Laura Bispuri’s short film Passing Time (2010) won the David di Donatello Award. Passing Time was also selected as one of the world’s eight best short films in the world at the Nuits en Or, organized by Académie des arts et des techniques du cinéma in Paris. Her other short film, Biondina (2010), won Bispuri the Nastro d’Argento as the emerging talent of the year. Sworn Virgin (2015), her first feature film, was selected as a competition entry at the Berlin International Film Festival. It has since been shown at various international festivals across the globe and won many awards: the Nora Ephron Prize at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York, the Firebird Award at the Hong Kong International Film Festival, the Golden Gate New Directors Prize at the San Francisco International Film Festival, the FIPRESCI Prize at the International Festival of Independent Cinema in Krakow and the Globo d’Oro in Italy.
