After graduating from the University of Fribourg, Aline Schmid worked in theatrical distribution and as a producer at Intermezzo Films. In 2016 she founded Beauvoir Films in Geneva. She has produced several films with international success, such as Sonita (Rokhsareh Ghaemmaghami, 2015), awarded at Sundance Film Festival and IDFA; Broken Land (Stéphanie Barbey, Luc Peter, 2014), screened in the Semaine de la critique at Locarno Film Festival 2014; and Almost There (Jacqueline Zünd, 2016), shown in Panorama Suisse at Locarno. In 2018 the film Walden by Daniel Zimmermann won the Special Prize of the Jury at Karlovy Vary and Closing Time by Nicole Vögele a Premio speciale della giuria Ciné+ Cineasti del presente at Locarno. She participated in Emerging Producers at Ji.hlava IDFF and in Producers on the Move at Cannes Film Festival.
