Argentinean director based in Geneva, Pablo Briones, studied film at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba. Within his Master’s degree at ECAL/HEAD, he directed A Beira de Lisboa (2013, Silver Mikeldi Award at ZINEBI 55) and A Barca (2015), a diptych of essay short films screened at Visions du Réel, Ji.hlava IDFF, FIDBA and IndieLisboa, among others. In 2016 he attended the workshop “Filming in Cuba” with Abbas Kiarostami, where he directed Pezcal (2016, presented in Locarno, La Habana, Oberhausen...). Baracoa is his first feature film.
