Zhannat Alshanova is an award-winning writer, director and producer from Kazakhstan. She wrote and directed several short films that played at various international film festivals, such as Cannes (Cinéfondation), Sundance, Locarno and PÖFF Shorts. Her debut feature project, Mother Tongue, won the ArteKino International Award at the Asian Project Market 2019 (Busan IFF). She holds an M.A. in filmmaking from the London Film School and is also a Berlinale Talents alumna.
