A small village in West Africa. A young beautiful woman is driven mad by a sorcerer’s spell. A pigherd is teased by the men of his village. After almost drowning, he decides to “save his people”. He presents himself as the “cousin of Christ”. Somewhat crazy, a bit of a thief, with fetishist tendencies, he awakens his compatriots’ imagination. A charlatan for some, a prodigy for others, he rules as master and pushes his convictions to the limit, going as far as having himself crucified like Christ. This is a story that reflects an existing African reality. The film shows, in an evocative way, the proliferation of sects and aberrations in an Africa caught between tradition, modernity and power.
