Locarno Pro – Alliance for Development

Alliance for Development is a platform for German, Italian and French language projects, to test their market potential and to form creative and financial alliances for the early stage of development.

For the 2018 edition (3-5 August), four projects have been selected among the beneficiaries of existing bilateral development funds between the Ministero dei beni e delle attività culturali e del turismo MiBACT (Italy), the Filmförderungsanstalt (FFA, Germany) and the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée (CNC, France).

Being Switzerland a natural partner of the above-mentioned countries, the initiative includes three Swiss projects that applied for development support through MEDIA compensatory measures, and that are looking for German, French or Italian co-producers.

Locarno has been hosting this annual meeting since 2015, with the support of the MiBACT, the FFA and the Federal Office of Culture (FOC, Switzerland), in the context of the MEDIA compensatory measures.

Alliance for Development is a platform encouraging co-development of projects and long-term cooperations between Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland.
The project-holders (director and producer) will present and discuss their ideas in the context of a targeted program, structured in individual meetings with potential partners, plenary sessions and networking activities.

The seven selected projects are listed below:

  • Au Sud by Lionel Baier, produced by Pauline Gygax and Max Karli (Bandita Films, Switzerland) – MEDIA Desk Suisse
