We are delighted to announce that the Locarno Festival has been elected as a member of the International Federation of Film Producers Associations Festivals Committee (FIAPF), founded in Paris in 1933.
On May 14 in Cannes, the Locarno Festival joined the new board of the only organization of film and television producers with a global reach, which counts 38 members producer organizations from 31 countries. FIAPF's mandate is to represent the economic, legal and regulatory interests, which film and TV production industries in five continents have in common.
The meeting allowed the most important festivals on an international level to address the new challenges of an ever-changing marketplace and to focus on the new realities linked to the digital platforms.
Locarno will sit on this committee alongside other nine elected accredited Festivals: Toronto International Film Festival (Canada), Berlinale (Germany) Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica (Italy), Warsaw Film Festival (Poland), Black Night Film Festival (Republic of Estonia), Busan International Film Festival (Republic of Korea), Kyiv International Film Festival (Ukraine), and, elected during the meeting as well, Cannes Film Festival (France) and Shanghai International Film Festival (China).
