Bern stands firm alongside the Locarno Film Festival. This was emphasized last night, during the opening ceremony of the 2020 edition, with the presence of both of the top representatives of the Federal bodies. Hans Stöckli, the President of the Council of States, highlighted the Festival’s courage in “putting on an edition that looks to the future in times of hardship”, while Isabelle Moret, the President of the National Council, described it as “a fundamental event to start retrieving a normalcy made of exchanges and encounters, where culture plays a vital part”.
These words received appreciation and support from Isabelle Chassot, the Head of the Federal Office of Culture, who attended the ceremony alongside State Councilor Manuele Bertoli and Locarno City Hall representative Ronnie Moretti. This showcased the strong shared institutional front that considers the Locarno Film Festival a vital resource for the future.
