While the Locarno Film Festival is hard at work putting together the program for the 76th edition (August 2-12. 2023), one of its major training projects has already been reconfirmed: the event will mark the return of the Locarno Academy, which allows young film hopefuls from all over the world to better themselves via masterclasses and encounters with the Festival’s main guests. During Locarno75, for example, participants got to meet the likes of Alexander Sokurov, Helena Wittmann and Laurie Anderson; publish articles in major international outlets; and create a valuable contact network for their professional future.
The three strands – Filmmakers, Critics and Industry Academy – will bring the chosen candidates to Locarno, enabling them to experience the Festival first-hand with an intensive daily schedule of learning and intercultural exchange, not to mention visions and discoveries through the film line-up. It’s a unique opportunity to sharpen one’s professional tools and make their work known to the industry’s most important professionals.
