A Laotian-American man, James, brings his father’s remains to Laos to fulfill his last wish. One day, a relative travels to town to look for him. They have to travel together on the Mekong River and endure each other’s differences.

Xaisongkham Induangchanthy films Laos through the eyes of a foreigner, James, who discovers his Laotian family and the land his mother comes from for the first time. Shot in cinemascope, the film invites us on a journey down the Mekong where time and space have not the same value for the inhabitants or for James. To accept this, he will have to free himself from all preconceptions about his own origins.

Locarno is ...

...the best place for film-related opportunities.
