Rosa is from Croatia and lives in Switzerland, with her husband who depends on her care. She takes care of everything. Her children have grown up and want to leave home. Rosa stays behind alone.
A heartbreaking and intimate observational documentary examining the sadness and dysfunction within the family. With unprecedented access and clever framing, the camera disguises those who prefer to hide. Bachelor film from HSLU Lucerne, Mama Rosa creates a portrait of a mother trapped in a closed universe. Exposing social, financial and health challenges against a backdrop of electronics, cleaning, cooking and sugary cups of tea.
