Each year, the Locarno Film Festival brings together some of the brightest and most influential minds in the film industry to form its official juries. These distinguished panels of experts are charged with evaluating competing films and awarding prizes to the most deserving works. The Concorso internazionale features works shown primarily as world premieres, coming from all over the globe and competing for the prestigious Pardo d’oro.
The selection of first or second works, mainly world premieres, directed by emerging talents from all over the world, is judged by a jury composed of three figures who, through their work in different areas of the audiovisual sector, are breathing new life into the language of film.

Belonging to the category “First Feature” are fiction films, documentary, or animated films of over 60 minutes time. To this category cannot be considered film directors whose films have been released or shown already at a film event or theater.
In collaboration with Ricola, the Pardo Verde is the prize that aims to find – in any of the Festival’s competition sections – the film which best reflects the environmental theme, offering new and stimulating interpretations to the audience.
