One minus one equals always zero. Since 2010, the Locarno Festival is compensating its footprint in order to reach the balance of zero emissions in Earth's atmosphere. Also this year, the event earned the label “myclimate neutral event” and is helping people who live far away from the canton of Ticino.

Thanks to the partnership with the Swiss foundation myclimate, in fact, in 2018 the Locarno Festival will support a project in rural Nepal that aims to minimize the unsustainable consumption of firewood or coal for cooking by installing 7,500 small biogas plants developed for peasant families with at least two cows or buffaloes.

A project which has several pros: it reduces the demand for non-sustainable firewood, it permits to diminish the emission of health damaging smoke and CO2 as a consequence of deforestation, it creates hundreds of jobs.
