Brought to you in collaboration with Cineteca Milano and Filmidee with the generous support of Fondazione Cariplo, the three-day event brings Locarno to Milan with film screenings, filmmakers such as Laura Ferrés, Annarita Zambrano, Basil Da Cunha and Simone Bozzelli, poignant discussions, and more to uncover new trends, talent and perspectives in the world of Italian cinema.
“Locarno in Milan is more than an extension of the program of the 76th edition of the Festival: an active dialogue capable of networking the best of world cinema with the most exciting energies of the new Italian cinema. From rediscovering a classic pre-Hays Code cinema like California Straight Ahead to the imaginative cinema of Bertrand Mandico and the surprising debut La imatge permanent, from the sensory immersion of El auge de l’humano 3 by Eduardo Williams diving into the musicality of Manga D’Terra by Basil Da Cunha. Locarno in Milan is also an occasion for discussion: with Simone Bozzelli, director of Patagonia, Annarita Zambrano, author of the sensual Rossosperanza, and Tommaso Santambrogio, revealed by Gli oceani sono i veri continenti. Locarno in Milan is new cinema, emerging, young, presented at the largest Swiss Festival that meets the Italian audience. An exciting dialogue that continues and tirelessly renews itself.”
Giona A. Nazzaro, Artistic Director of the Locarno Film Festival
