The 68th edition of the Festival del film Locarno will open with Edward Norton, who will introduce the screening of Fight Club at the Auditorium FEVI at 14.00, before receiving the Excellence Award Moët & Chandon on the Piazza Grande.

As per tradition, the opening day will be characterized by a series of screenings in the sections Histoire(s) du cinéma, the Retrospettiva Sam Peckinpah and Open Doors. At 14.00, at the Auditorium FEVI, Edward Norton will introduce David Fincher's Fight Club. This will be followed by a screening of Massimo Coppola's Romeo e Giulietta, in the Fuori concorso section.

At 21.30 the Festival's President Marco Solari will introduce the official opening on the Piazza Grande. The evening will begin with the presentation of the official juries and the Excellence Award Moët & Chandon to Edward Norton. This will be followed by the world premiere of Jonathan Demme's Ricki and the Flash.
Numerous personalities from Swiss and Ticino institutions will be attending the opening, including the Federal Councillor, Alain Berset, the Council of State President Norman Gobbi and the Mayor of Locarno, Alain Scherrer.

The Festival continues until August 15, screening 179 features and 87 short films from 51 different countries. The three official competitions offer an opportunity to take the pulse of contemporary world cinema, while an important part of the overall program is dedicated to film history and those who have left their imprint on it, thus enabling viewers to gain insight and deeper knowledge of those key figures and (re)discover their work, as well as participate in the numerous discussions that are open to the general audience.

The Festival will close on the Piazza Grande with the awards ceremony, on Saturday August 15 at 21.00. A special evening will serve as a coda on Sunday August 16, with a screening of the Italian film Asino vola directed by Marcello Fonte and Paolo Tripodi.

Complete program information is available on the official website (www.pardo.ch), along with all the news, trailers and a range of exclusive content, as well as live streaming of all the Piazza Grande presentations and conversations with the guests of honor.

Prefestival

On the second evening of the Prefestival, tonight, August 4 at 21.30, there will be a screening of the restored print of Federico Fellini's E la nave va, to celebrate 120 years of the major French production and distribution company Gaumont, which co-produced the film in 1983.
The evening, with free entry for all, has been made possible thanks to support from UBS.
