Sabine Ehrl grew up in a small town in eastern Bavaria, Germany. Alongside jobs in the film industry in Munich and Berlin, she worked at a chocolate factory, the post office, a company for IT consulting, horse auctions, and as a waitress. She studied Psychology in Vienna and graduated with honors.
During her studies at the Film University Babelsberg, she directed the internationally awarded documentary Day After Day and the essay-film Guilt, as well as the internationally awarded dystopian scifi F For Freaks, which ran, amongst other festivals, in Sitges and Trieste and won the Audience Award in Busan and Best International Short as well as Best Actress at Fantasia in Mon treal. In 2020 she won the T-Port Talent Award at the Les Arcs Talent Village and in 2021/22 she was developing the miniseries F For Freaks and her feature debut PARADISE_bleeding at the Cinéfondation Residence in Paris.

In a Bavarian village at Christmas time in the early 1990s, an epic drama unfolds in interwoven episodes about innate guilt, unconditional belief in love, the longing for recognition, the fermenting of inherited traumas and the will to rebel.
In 'PARADISE_bleeding' I want to dissect a fictional village during Christmas time. When it comes to family life, the time before and after Christmas can be highly critical, leading to an increase in domestic violence, alcoholism, and even murder. Highly explosive components collide, and Catholicism and capitalism provide the fuel for the fire. Merry Christmas.
